Earth Day

Posted on April 29, 2017 by Andrew

Earth Day is an annual event celebrated on the 22nd of April, worldwide. This is celebrated to encourage people to go green and to protect the planet. Its main aim is to make people realise that the blue planet is a wonderful place to live, and that we should keep it clean so that our future generations can have a decent place to live. There are many organisations which work day and night to make this aim a reality.

  • Friends of Earth– This association strives for a better world, in terms of health. They push their views about what should be done to help the planet recover, even if those attempts might be difficult.
  • Earth Day Network (EDN)- EDN has developed many environmental campaigns which have been very successful. The issues they have focussed on so far are climate change, animals’ safety and clean drinking water.
  • Women’s voices for the Earth– This group’s main aim is to eliminate toxic chemicals present in the air, which are harming our health and our lives.
  • Environmental Working Group (EWG)- This association’s mission is to encourage people to live a healthy life, and they drive consumer choice and civic action.

However, as residents of Earth, we should not only rely on these organisations to save our home. The real work begins with ourselves, and with the choices we make.

If you want to see what nature has to offer, hop onto Bingo Extra. On there, you will see the best Animals and Nature themed games such as Flowers slot, Howling Fun slot, Stampede slot and Bugs Party slot. On all these games, the symbols are mainly animals, flowers, plants and nature themed icons. While you play these games, you will feel like you are in the real nature out there. Use this as a reminder: If you do not start saving your planet, the only place you can see these animals or nature might be on these games or on pictures.

For instance, there are little things that we can do to help the environment. One simple example is to make sure all appliances are turned off and unplugged when they are not being used. Many appliances still use electricity when they are switched off, thus it will be wise to unplug these, to save energy plus to reduce your bills.

Another thing you could practice to help is to walk or bike to any close locations. If you are going to a nearby shop, no need to take your car. This will reduce pollution, and in a way, it is a way of producing fresh air for all. Air conditions are the biggest energy hog ever! Thus, it will be better if you switch these off when not needed. If you want air to circulate, it is better to put on a fan, or open some windows. You can still use your AC, however do it in a moderate way. Also, it is worth it to keep separate bins for wastes that can be recycled.

Tip of the Day

If It Doesn’t Smell, Don’t Wash It

According to Real Simple, if every American made an effort to launder less — cutting out just one load of laundry a week per household — we’d save enough water to fill seven million swimming pools each year.

So if it looks clean, and it smells clean, call it clean and wear it again. Consider hanging worn clothes out on your clothesline to freshen them up between wearings
